Go ahead and create your own blog, if you don’t have one already. It’s free, and very easy to use.

Once you have your own blog up and running, be sure to go into the admin options and add your Google AdSense account information:

If you don’t have an AdSense account already, you can create that for free as well.

Once you have created your AdSense account and entered your information, you will begin making money with your PR Money blog. They currently share the ad revenue by displaying ads with your publisher ID 50% of the time, and theirs the other 50%.

NOTE: Don’t add any more AdSense ads to your blog. The Google AdSense TOS only allows one unique publisher ID per page, and only three ad units per page. They will also allow three link units along with the three ad units, which is taken advantage of by several themes provided by PR Money. See this page for complete Google’s AdSense program policies.

WARNING: Never click on the ads in your blog. It’s against Google’s TOS, and your AdSense account will be suspended for doing so. Google is very serious about click fraud, and they usually ban you from their program for doing so. It’s not worth it, even if you think you are being sneaky by using proxy servers. Their detection methods are state-of-the-art, and you will be caught.

This was one of my “reserve” videos I had set aside for a week when I didn’t have any better ideas. Surprisingly, it was rather popular and has done better than some of my other carefully planned videos. During April Fools on Metacafe, it was averaging over $10/day!

That’s a great example of not underestimating your videos. Something you might not think is great may very well turn out to be immensly popular.

Cool Little Miniature Stove is our second most popular PR video on Metacafe. If you haven’t seen the video, basically it’s a how-to that explains how to make a small & lightweight alcohol stove from a couple of soda cans:

	<param name=wmode" value="transparent" />

I’ve actually known about this type of stove for quite a long time. I used them backpacking in my preteen days. I was looking for something else on the web one day when I ran across a Penny Stove. It jogged my memory of the alcohol stove from so many years ago, so I decided to create a how-to video on the process.

There are many different ways to make the alcohol stove, but I decided to show the easiest one. The can I show in the video is not the most efficient, but it is the easiest to make with items you probably already have laying around your house: soda cans, razor blade, coat hangar, thumbtack, sandpaper, fiberglass insulation (cotton balls work too), and Heet (common fuel additive in the US).

A note regarding substitutes for Heet - Heet is basically methanol, which burns hot and clean. You can also use 97% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), but it burns dirty, or denatured alcohol (find it at the paint store) for a great burn.

The Digg crowd loved the stove video. It was dugg over 1500 times, and commented on over 270. I was in awe. This was a video that I pretty much threw together in an hour or so. The reaction over at Instructables were about the same. I had no idea how much people would like it.

Except for one guy on Metacafe. He released a similar video a few hours before mine. I found some nasty comments in my profile and on the video, claiming I stole his idea. He was really mad about it, too. I felt kind of bad for the guy, but to be completely honest, his video wasn’t done very well. It never had a fighting chance of maintaining the 3.0 rating in order to qualify for Producer Rewards anyway.

Behind the scenes:
While making the video, I accidentally spilled some Heet on our brand new kitchen table. If you look carefully at about 75 seconds you can see the Heet drip around the side and under the stove. From there it dripped on the table.

Since I was filming at the time, I didn’t clean it up right away. One thing about petroleum based fluids that I know so well is their ability to remove paint, glue, oil, oh and stain on your brand new kitchen table! That little mistake was even more painful when my wife came home and saw the damage.

Luckily, the video was a viral hit. The money it’s made so far would pay for several tables, so I’m off the hook.

Another funny thing happened during the making of Cool Little Miniature Stove. We had to go the grocery store to pick up soda cans for the video, since we don’t usually drink it. We settled on Root Beer, and then grabbed some vanilla ice cream so we could make some floats.

Unfortunately, the 6-pack I grabbed from the high shelf had a can that was loose. When I grabbed it, the loose can blazed toward the ground like a scud missile (bad aim), exploding everywhere and spraying us up to the neck. My wife was so shocked, all she could finally sputter was “Look, it’s on my foot!” Her foot was covered as were her jeans and several large brown blotches on her t-shirt. She looked like she had wandered under a pterodactyl with diarrhea.

It’s too bad nobody was filming that.

The ride didn’t last very long, but that didn’t make it any less spectacular. I didn’t get as good video as I had planned on. They break everyone up in groups, then weigh each person to ensure proper balance. I ended up in the middle of the back seat. I had a great view of everything in front of us, which does absolutely no good when the scenery is below you and to the left.

Behind the scenes:

Our fun didn’t last very long. I was so busy getting as much video as I could, that I walked us back to the wrong tour bus. Not only did it screw up their numbers (full buses), we ended up having to wait an extra 30 minutes for the current groups to get their rides. We had tickets to Rita Rudner for a little later that night, so we were worried we would either miss the show, or get a horrible seat.

We managed to get back to the hotel in time, only to find out we had to stand in another line to redeem the certificates for the show. Three of us waited in line for a customer service rep that never showed up. I finally found out later that they had gone home for the day, but didn’t bother to put out a sign or tell anyone else back there. Luckily, they were accepting the certificates at the box office at the show, and we still managed to make it on time.

We ended up with a pretty good seat, but the celebration was short-lived. They didn’t serve any food for the show - only drinks. Not your normal, over-priced, 2-dollar cokes, either. We’re talking about $12 for a tiny glass barely bigger than a shot glass drinks. I ordered a Pina Colada in a futile attempt to calm down my grumbling stomach.

I’m just glad Rita Rudner is still hilarious after all these years.

This time, with an AK47 assault rifle and an M15. The AK47 was surprisingly rough to shoot. It had one hell of a kick too. It actually bruised my shoulder. At about 49 seconds into the video I slowed it down so you can see the intense muzzle flash:

The M15 was pretty mellow compared to the AK. That might have something to do with the relatively tiny bullets it fires. It was easy to handle, easy to shoot, and quite accurate with a novice behind the trigger. I can see why it is a military weapon of choice.

I’m still amazed at how many people got upset about the paper targets I chose to shoot in this video and in M249 SAW. It sickens me how people still defend Osama Bin Laden to this day. Sure, our president is no saint, but we’re talking about a seriously twisted, homicidal maniac here. I just have one question about Jihad: What kind of all-knowing, all-powerful god would support terrorizing and killing innocent people?

Sounds more like the devil’s work to me.

Not that there’s any other kind of M249 SAW, mind you. The title was chosen as a “grabber” title. Marketing, dontcha know.

If you’ve ever stayed in Las Vegas, you know all too well that the hotel rooms, casinos, and every place in between bombards you with advertisements. Mostly for casinos, time shares, and shows. The one thing in the little discount book in the hotel room that actually got my attention was the advertisement for fully automatic weapons.

Normally, I’m not a fan of guns. Having them around makes it too convenient for someone to commit murder in the heat of the moment. I mean, seriously, how many people do you actually know that can honestly say they needed a gun to ward off a criminal? One in a thousand? One in one hundred thousand? Compare that to the number of “accidental discharge” deaths or domestic disputes that ended in a gun related homicide.

Having said that, I would gladly jump at the chance to shoot a fully automatic weapon in a controlled situation. I had to call to see what it was all about. The folks over at The Gun Store in Las Vegas happily answered my questions.

Yes, you really can rent fully automatic weapons.

No, they aren’t illegal - If you purchased them before the assault weapons ban of 1994.

Cash or credit card is all you need.

They have just about every automatic weapon you’ve ever heard of.

Prices as low as $25 for 50 shots.

That’s all I needed to hear. I hailed the next cab I could find (really tough in Vegas), and high-tailed it over there.

So many choices! AK47 Assault Rifle, UZI SMG, Thompson M1A1 SMG, Colt M16 Carbine, M3A1 “Grease Gun”, Stemple “K”, STEN MKII, H&K MP5, Madsen M50, MP40 “Schmeisser” and many more. I had a hard time deciding on which one I wanted to shoot, so I chose three. My first choice was from several of my favorite video games - the M249 SAW Mini Machine Gun.

The employees at The Gun Store were very accommodating. I fully intended on making a video of the experience and putting it up on Metacafe, and they were happy to allow it. Keep in mind they will let anyone with cash or credit rent, handle, and shoot a fully automatic weapon. In the post 9/11 environment, that is very trusting of them.

They also let you choose the target. I picked the obvious choice - Bin Laden:

The video game clip is from FarCry, a fantastic FPS game with an equally amazing sequel in the works.

Oh - the woman’s voice making fun of my shooting is that of my loving wife.
